YEARLING & BRED HEIFERS FOR SALE!

Text Box:   Established in 1985 with a group of heifers purchased from Lorrayne Byers at the Twin Canyon Ranch, located in the high and rough area of north central New Mexico where extreme hardiness and efficiency are the very keys to survival.  All of the heifers carried the Chinook 605 bloodline.  We bred them to a PBC D0202 line bull, thereby forming a herd carrying the basic foundation lines of the Red Angus breed.
Our main goal is to provide the commercial breeder with proven genetics to improve the quality of his herd at a reasonable expense.  While we strive to improve growth genetics, we will not sacrifice the all important maternal and functional values.  You won’t find new fads or trendy clichés here — just honest working cattle with balanced EPDs.  Our environment requires cattle with strong feet and legs — they often have to walk miles to water.  Experience and buyer feedback have taught us that correct structure, feed efficiency and outstanding maternal values are what really works in the harsh southwest environment.    /D3 bulls and females are working herds from Florida to Hawaii, and in Mexico.  /D3 bulls were used by the King ranch to form the Santa Cruz breed in Texas and were used by Shorthorn breeders in the development of the Durham Red breed.
We enthusiastically promote youth involvement in our program.  We were instrumental in establishing the New Mexico Red Angus Futurity Heifer program and the Production Steer contest at the county fair.  This steer contest is judged on average daily gain, ultrasound and score on a written exam covering the beef industry.
In our meat program we focus on the end product — what goes on the plate!  Where the show ring apparently centers attention on hair and butt, we concentrate on length and thickness of loin. /D3 steers consistently dress above 62% and grade high choice or prime.  Even the most skeptical meat customers are so pleased with their Red Angus influenced beef that they return to place advance orders for the following year.
The majority of our sales are generated by repeat buyers or new customers referred by past buyers — so we must be doing something right!!!
